    Default Pen Tool

OK. Whilst I don't use the Pen Tool, why is it that if I place it on the Menu bar, it disappears when I shut down Designer Pro X9?

Surely, the whole point of placing various buttons on menu bars is so that you can personalise to suit yourself.
Not for a button to disappear.

So, what's going on with the Pen Tool?

It's nature's way of saying you don't need this tool.

Rik, I've never much felt the need to re-arrange things so I had an amateur go at creating a menu.
    1. Window > Control bars... > New...
    2. Named it Gertrude.
    3. Scrolled Control bars to and selected Button Palette.
    4. Shift+Alt Gr the singleton Pen Tool onto Gertrude.
    5. Move Gertrude to the Toolbar.
    6. Close and re-opened Xara.
    Still there.

I have my own custom toolbar which I have recreated dozens of times over the years. I pretty much can put it together in a few minutes every time a new version comes out.

Align, Cut, Copy, Paste in Place, Zoom 1:1, Import, Zoom to Page, Export, Print, and Group

Gary, it doesn't seem that hard but Rik was asking specifically about the Pen Tool.
I tried to replicate his bug but couldn't but mainly through ignorance.

You can see that I've created a new bar, placed the Pen Tool on it.
When I restart Designer Pro X9, then, not just the Pen Tool disappears, but the bar disappears as well.

EDIT: OK, I realise that the bar disappears because there was only one tool on it. But, the Pen Tool definitely disappears after restart.

Sounds like the changes are not being written to the registry, Rik.
Restart DPX9 => 'Run as Admin' then make your toolbar changes, see if that holds.

Running the programme as Admin, made no difference.

Well, that's certainly not normal or expected behaviour.
Do you have other registry protection software installed?
Have you rebooted your PC recently?

Rebooted my Laptop, a number of times.

I don't have any registry protection software installed, that I'm aware of?
