CD Install - XDPX9

I have just received my CD.
The version on it is older that what I am using so the install ends.

To get any Design gallery extras, fonts or whatever, what do I do?

Re-install and lose all my configurations?
Navigate to somewhat on the CD and copy across things, to where?
Do nothing, as I have everything needed already?

I think all content is downloadable from within the program? Google fonts are accessible via the font list, and the designs are downloadable via the help menu. If there's anything extra on the disk I'd be interested to know!

I have not received my CD yet but when I will I will be faced with the same issues. Could PeteS or someone else at Xara give a clear explanation of what to do? Thanks!

We will also send the back-up DVD (which includes the PDF manual), printed quick reference card and printed manual.

That's about all.

Cheers sledger, I am probably thinking back to the times when all the assets were on the CD and not web-enabled.
That said I would still like to set up the CD as a Disk designs... connection if I don't have the Internet available.

I would still appreciate some additional information from someone at Xara. The back-up DVD has all the contents/assets on it, right? If so, is it possible to just install that and not the program?

That's right, Acorn. The previous version introduced the Live gallery which auto updates from the web when the program runs.
Sometimes there are new additions, sometimes there are subtractions.
I don't have my DVD yet, but version 8 (DPX) there are no 'assets' on the disc, only the setup .cab files, setup resources, MS Windows Installer update (if needed), Microsoft Core XML Services installer and the The Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package plus of course the Xara DPX PDF manual..
There are no themes, clipart or other resources - these are first obtained via the Help>>Download content installer
After this, updates are automatic.

Thanks, Sledger, that makes things a lot clearer but then why have a back-up DVD at all? You have to go online to get the content/assets anyway, as well as any updates to the program.

As we have to pay for the back-up DVD, I would appreciate it if Xara would make this optional for upcoming releases.
