Select large group of items on webpage

I have a webpage with news on it that is pretty long. I used to be able to use the select tool and start on the top left, then drag over to the right. then drag down to the bottom of the screen and it would allow me to select everything on my long webpage scrolling down with the selection box and then I would move all of it down to make room for new content on the top of the page.

Now it doesn't allow me to go down and select anything further than what is visible on the screen?

Is there a setting I accidentally changed or something?

I'm not sure if I understand your question. Are you trying to select all of the text in a text area?

If so, insert your text cursor anywhere in the text and press Ctrl + a (select all).

Have you pressed the "Scroll Lock" button on your keyboard by mistake? (Is the scroll lock light lit up?)

Use Ctrl+A and then use the Layer view of the Page and Layer gallery to deselect items with Ctrl-C.
