    Default DPX ver 8 Generated code llinks unwanted pages "xr_pnavmenu"

    Probably I'm missing a fundamental point here <g> but have an issue with something I can't understand.

    If I 'Preview a web page' in Design Pro X the last section of the generated code looks like this:

    <div id="xr_xo8"></div>
    <div id="xr_xd8"></div>
    </div>
    </div>
    <!--[if lt IE 7]><script type="text/javascript" src="index_htm_files/png.js"></script><![endif]-->
    <script type="text/javascript">xr_aeh()</script>
    </body>
    </html>

    If I do a full export or even a preview of the whole site then every page has an extra chunk embedded into it as follows - with EVERY other page in the .xar file listed:

    </div>
    </div>
    <div id="xr_xo8"></div>
    <div id="xr_xd8"></div>
    </div>
    </div>
    </div>
    <script type="text/javascript">xr_prifs();</script>

    I have 2 concerns with this:
    Firstly, there are pages in the .xar file that I do not need/want to be referenced or discoverable to a spider, and which I have not linked to.
    Secondly, Google therefore indexes all of these links and displays them in its results with title snippets which start with the page number - and looks very amateurish.

    A Google search for site:http://www.opus-studio.com illustrates the problem.

    I realise that I can exclude specific pages with a robots.txt file, but what to do about the page numbers in the title?

    Any ideas at all?

    TIA

    Make sure you are using a website template and not a presentation template. And also check you using the latest version of the program becasue I remember there was an issue in an early verison where presentation code was exported on a website but they fixed it in a patch. Go to Help -> Check for updates to make sure.

    Yes, there's a bug in v8 that causes the navigation popup when transitions are used.
    Also, please make sure that the 'Presentation website' option in not 'ticked' in the box.

    Let me explain. Your document is a presentation document. All presentation documents have a navigation bar embedded that contains a menu with links to all your pages. It pops-up from the left bottom side of the page when you hover mouse over it. It is done with that code you don't like. When you do a single page preview, navigation menu is not exported because it is supposed that you only want to preview the design of the current page, not to navigate throughout entire website (which you wouldn't be able to do anyway since no other pages are exported, unless you have exported them before).

    If you don't want this navigation menu to be included with your website, change the document type to Web Document.

    Thanks very much for the quick responses guys. I do appreciate your thoughts but this file is NOT marked as a presentation document (the check box is cleared, same as shown in sledger's screenshot above). This IS a standard website document.

    Actually, I've now tested turning this presentation check box ON (which also produces a message when going to preview notifying user that the document is in fact a presentation) and then turning it OFF again and re-exporting all HTML again. Unfortunately it doesn't make a difference to the exported code. Still has all this xr_pnavmenu stuff at the end of it...

    Sledger - There are no transitions in the website either, all links are marked as 'Instant'. There are a number of pop-up photos though which have their own zoom-in transition. I guess this is unrelated to the bug you are talking about?

    John - I'm using Designer Pro X 8.1.1.22437M DL May 29 2012 (This is the most current version without upgrading to X9 I believe)

    No it's not, 8.1.3.23942 is the latest patch release for Designer Pro X. Go to Help -> Check for Updates to install the latest patch update.

    Ah, many thanks Pete. Thought I already had the latest.
    DPX now patched up, error has gone away. Brilliant and thanks to all for your help.
