    Default Clip/Fill question

I have a photo that is 7 by 11 and I want it to fill an 8.5 by 11 piece of paper. One side of it is mostly a background and I just wanted to extend that to the blank piece of paper. I tried several ways to cut a small piece of it out of the photo and use it as a fill for that blank bit. But whatever I try the fill uses the whole photo. Attached is the photo so you can see what I mean.

I'd use the dark side and extend it using copies of the photo set behind then the clone/magix erase to clean it up.

    Something like this:

Or place a rectangle behind the photo and use the eyedropper to match the rectangle's colour to the light background in the photo then group the photo and the rectangle.

Thanks all. I like what Sledger did. But, is there any way to use a fill from the photo background?

    Grace,

Maybe I'm missing something or just don't understand, but why not fill a 8 1-2x11 rectangle with your photo and put the graphics on that. I reduced this to 800px in order to post.

Another option is to take a slice from the left edge of a copy of the photo and place it to the right tucked behind and then stretched to fill.
This gives the impression that the lass is standing again a narrow wall section between two openings showing the sunset outside..
