All buttons different in navigation bar?

Is it possible to make a navigation bar which not only has buttons different sides, but also has variations in the middle?

(I searched the forums as this seems like a question more people would have asked, but couldn't find anything, so please don't shoot me if it exists )

Craray, as far as I know you can only have the left, middle and right variations.
I ungrouped four buttons and changed the second and also third but on recreating the navigation bar it cloned button two into the third.
I tried adding a Name to a button and it was overwritten.

If I had to do it with the in-built navigation bar functionality I would create my separate and alternative images as Named MouseOff & mouseOver items.
I would then use jQuery to search for each button's Alt detail (the button text) and then replace that button's images by my required ones.

Personally, I would build one up from scratch using CSS.
Xara's approach removes all that coding trauma, but necessarily restricts choice.

or you can just use xara to create the buttons on the mouseoff layer and their mouseover states on individual layers
but i don't think it then automates the mouseover state of the currently selected page
but you can then do that manually too
a little more work but worth it for the uniqueness of your design

As long as the button is grouped it will be in the mouseover state on the page it is linked to.

I think the last two Posts missed to point of a NavBar in that it allows sub-menus.
Any shapes can be grouped and linked and repeated on all pages to provide navigation but the Xara NavBar allows much, much more.

creating an entire navigation menu by hand is perfectly possible and throws off the limitations of simple design and structure imposed by the xara navbar feature
i've never used the xara navbar for that reason

Again I always create my own navigation, sometimes when I have submenus I use the create navigation bar option but most of the time I use layers to create far better looking navigation bars (you can play around with all sorts of mouseover options).

You can create custom sub-menus using popup layers too but I think you have to sacrifice mouseover effects on the submenu. Another option and last resort if you want to stick with the navbar tool might be to dedicate a separate navbar to each button.

no, this is in fact quite possible
i have created multiple submenus manually, all of which have rollover effects

My mistake, I see you can use a popup mouseover effect for a link that's on a popup. I was probably trying to use the mouseover layer with a popup before and it wasn't working.
