Default GIF animator in next XDP?

Here's hoping Xara has a decent GIF animation tool in the upcoming XDP. This old special-effect is getting a makeover, what with all the confusion about Flash and HTML5/CSS3 motion graphics.

Check this link, and you'll see what I'm talking about --

Also, here's an article about the value of subtle motion to catch attention in a world where even the most arresting still image often isn't noticed by viewers -- the concept is simple and could be of great benefit to those of you developing commercial websites.

Would really like to make animated GIFs right in XDP. Not exactly rocket science -- there are a lot of free programs around that do this. It's not new stuff. See --

+1 sledger. GIF animation does not need any more attention or effort.

Yes the GIF is very old, but that mentioned http://cinemagraphs.com/ is quite impressive way of using it.

Rather it says to me that a good cooker can cook well from and by anything

Web design people -- check out http://www.elencanto.com/web/ele/el_encanto.jsp ... a luxury hotel in Santa Barbara ... incorporating a moving graphic with still images. No reason you couldn't do this with WD, right?

I can't see any connection to animated GIF or Xara Web Designer in that linked site, Jon?
(BTW: This is the graphics chat forum, maybe this should have been posted in the web chat forum?)

What would really be nice is a new animated format that utilized 24bit color and real transparency. The APNG format looked like it was gaining some traction, but seems to have fallen by the wayside recently.

Very interesting Jon. If you import the .gifs from the PCMag article into XDP, you can see how they're constructed. This could be useful.

If XDP could take a sequence of images and extract just the pixels that are different from one to the next to create a new frame for each, it could easily create animated gifs like these. Doubt it will make into the next version due out soon, but I would still welcome it in a future upgrade...
