Question Xara Designer Pro - Pen Pressure Brush with Wacom?

    Greetings,

I am trying to get my Xara Designer Pro X to work with my wacom cintiq for brush pressure sensitivity.

Here is what I am doing:
    1. I click on the freehand brush tool
    2. I click the "Enable Pressure Recording" icon
    3. I select the "Pen Pressure" shape from the Line Gallery

When I start to draw, my brush reverts back into the constant line brush.
How do I get it to stick so that I can get pressure sensitivity with my tablet?

Thank you in advance for your reply!

This isn't much help to you, but, I don't get that problem.

    It stays on Pen Pressure.

    Hi Rik,
    Thanks for the reply.

My wacom cintiq is working fine. I am able to use it and it responds well.
When I select the "Pen Pressure" shape and start drawing, it switches back to one of the default brush shapes. Very strange.

    Any other ideas?
I am using Xara Designer Pro X with Mac OSX 10.7.5 running Windows Vista Ultimate under Parallels Desktop 8.

    Cheers!

    Ah!

I haven't tried that on my MacBook.
    I am running OS X 10.8.3 though.
    Windows 7, Parallels Desktop 8.

I'll give it a go on that and let you know.

Before I connect things up, I do seem to remember something similar happening. But, I thought that there was something I didn't understand or was doing wrong.
OK. I shall report back on this.

    Yup.

Does the same for me on my MacBook.

It's OK on my normal Desktop PC, running Windows 7 and Designer Pro X.

But, on my MacBook (details in previous post) it just doesn't stay on Pen Pressure.
In fact, the Pen Pressure profile gets greyed out.

So, I don't know whether this is a Parallels problem?

Actually, I also have Fusion 5.
I might fire that up and see if it gives the same problem.

    Hi Steve.
Thanks for trying, but, that's not it.
That's one of the first things I turn off.

I think I have the answer. Just need to double check.

    OK.

    Whilst in Windows
Go to the 'Parallels Desktop' Menu, which is at the top of your screen and hidden.
(Just rest your mouse there for a few moments.)

When the menu appears, click on 'Devices'
Move your mouse down to 'USB' - another menu opens up.
Likely 'Intuos 5' is not ticked.
Click on 'Intuos 5' - you should get a dialogue box to ask you yes or no.
    Click on 'Yes'.

Windows may now install drivers for you tablet.

    That's it.

Well, it is for me, as my tablet is working as it should be.

Hey! I might even start using it.
