Default Re: Gary is stalled out on the Soquili font

    @ Larry and all—

The following are screen snags of two typefaces I've worked on but have not completed and would be more than willing to "give them up" to honor Bill Taylor.

Other possibilities are to trace "The Jenson Series" because they are Public Domain, or Native American symbols, which I have a problem with because I can't find one that represents Bill's tribe. Is it better to forget the Native American motif instead of "risking" a "politically incorrect" font, even if we state that the border font represents the culture of several different American tribes?

The above is "Peter Maximum", based on my original, researched interpretation of the calligraphy of Peter Max on his paintings from the 1960s.

The above is "Moondrake", a "Goth" sort of font I conceived of in the 1970s but never got around to completely digitizing this century!

    Jenson Caps

This is beautiful IMO, sort of like dreamy Sotrybook Caps, a la, "Once upon a time". I can see this working with a Celtic body text font.

One of the pages I have from "Native American Art", royalty free and completely legit if you consider none of this stuff is vector, and the manual tracing of art necessarily includes human "intervention" and interpretation, making it our own artwork.

    Thoughts?

    Cherokee, Larry (and all).

Either the tribe didn't have very many artists as good as Bill (!) or my resources are poor.

You pull this one off, and you certainly will be The Man of The Hour, Frank.

Don't worry about coding the glyphs—that would be the least I can do after contributing to stalling the project.

    My Best,

    Gary

Hi Guys, Sorry I've been distracted by a lot things going on in my life and just haven't had time to keep up with this thread.

Gary, I like the MoonDrake letters you posted. They remind me of Bill as he mentioned more than once about the fact that he used to do a lot of calligraphy. The real kind with ink and paper.

As Frank has generously started work on a "Soquili" font I'd like to suggest that MoonDrake be considered for a future project for our group.

nothing's set in stone (but if you want to change anything you'll have to kill me)
    it's (obviously)a decorative font
it will be upper case only destined for headlines
the design is based acherokee basket weave pattern
the style is classical elegant patient
its a labour of love and i've only done two full caps so far
thenext letter will be the S so we can wee what the wrod Soquili will look like
i also intend to include glyphs of horses and cherokee artifacts
i would also like to include a drawing bill so if somebody has a decent photo please put it on here or email to me
If someone tried to make me dig my own grave I would say No.
