The Alien Skin demos are not included in Designer Pro X If you have a purchased version of The Eye Candy effects from 4000 to Eye Candy 6 they work very well with DPX but Version 7 of Eye Candy has had a re write and while it works with DPX (sadly)there are some issues and the effects need to be locked to prevent crashes.

Last I heard from Alien Skin Support they have no current plans of addressing this or making Xara a supported host.

If you still have version installed use it for adding the effects, the lock the effect or create a new bitmap image.

I tried the trial of Eye Candy 7 and LOVED a couple of the effects...very willing to buy it. EXCEPT it crashes anytime I try to save the file. It sounds like "Locking" the effect would fix that.

    1. How do you lock it?
    2. What does locking it do? That way you say it, it sounds like this is a bad thing?

@PhilKnox Locking treats the effect as if it has been permanently added to the bitmap. You can unlock the effect and then edit if necessary.

When the Live Effects Tool is selected, and after an effect has been applied, the option to lock is on the Infobar in the form of a... lock!

If this does not help let us know and we'll suggest something else.

@mike - I'm not certain, but I think there is a record of filters you have purchased from Xara on their Account Admin page and when you register your product, the effects are downloaded automaticlly. But I might be halucinating this as well.

Maybe PeteS or one of the Xara persons who know the answer can clarify this.
