Hi gwpriester,

Hey, Gary:
Thanks, as always, for the info. I'm assuming you meant AtomZ; I am aware of AtomZ, but it cool to see it in use on a Xara website. My primary concern is that there is no premium version of AtomZ, and that people who use it will see ads with their search results. That to me isn't as bad, per se, as a branded search box. However, the last thing I want is a search result that directs people away from my client sites. This is a valid concern, as we are not even re-launched yet and already have two clients who will want a search box.
Again, thanks!
Best,
RDS

@Frbrizio - I checked with the expert (sledger) and he say that search box needs a back end which cannot be done in Xara.
@RDS - I did a quick search (heh heh) and here's a search box that has a free (with ads) and a paid version http://www.freefind.com/ I have no idea if it is any good. And yes, I meant AtomZ
If AtomZ is searching your client's site, which is how it works, then a visitor is not going to be taken off the site.

Thanx a lot.
Do you know if the word "Search" could be on the same line as the text box and not aligned vertically (changing the html code)?
bye
Hello,
with this modify Atomz search box has the word "Search" in the same line.
It seems to work fine.
<!-- Atomz HTML for Search -->
<table>
<tr>
<form method="get" action="http://search.atomz.com/search/">
<td>
<input type="hidden" name="sp_a" value="sp1004eef4">
<input size="15" name="sp_q"><br>
</td>
<td>
<input type="submit" value="Search">
<input type="hidden" name="sp_p" value="all">
<input type="hidden" name="sp_f" value="UTF-8">
</td>
</form>
</tr>
</table>
Bye
Fabrizio
From personal experience the best one I have found is http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/ it is free (no ads etc) for upto 50 pages, simply download the software, it then indexes your site and then you add the search box, and the best thing is that it allows you to have the search on your own website, you are not taken to the atomz or google sites.
That's a great suggestion sketch. I'm on my way to try it out.

Just thought I would let you know Gary that the actual script for the search box is hidden in a help file but the simple version of it is:
<form method="GET" action="search.php">
<input type="text" name="zoom_query" size="16">
<input type="submit" value="Search">
</form>
Just post it into a placeholder
There is some script with more control over the look of the search box but I will have to search for that and post it back later, unless of course you find it sooner.
@sketch - I wonder if that script would work with one of these search buttons http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...456#post473456
And how does this work. Does the query look for the database files that are uploaded to the site?
By the way, I e-mailed the person who created those search buttons and asked if they could be used outside of Blogger and he said yes. English was his first language and so I am not sure if he meant go ahead and use they, or if he expects to be paid?

Looks good, and good value too.
There's a short video about how it works here Gary.
Quite straight forward..
