Budding music mixer

Hi advice please

My 6 yo daughter who, is very creative wants to learn how to 'mix and make pop music with all the layers of effects of sounds and distortions you hear in songs these days. Any suggestions/users of this sort of software? Does any one know if there are any Open Source software for doing this suitable for android tablets or windows computer. I'd rather not spend lots of ££ (yet) in case its just a fad but equally don't want anything that's too limiting so she loses interest - stimulate the creative brain etc

Soundation (http://soundation.com/) is a an online 'online studio', so you could use it on Windows without installing it. It's not OSS, but it is free (as in beer).
