Default Object explorer jumps to top after deleting an object

I have this document, imported from a PSD file, that has lots of layers (300+). Don't ask me why it is organized like this, I just imported a PSD to do some editing and want to leave the layers as they are.
Anyway, the problem is, every time I delete a single object the Layer Gallery jumps to the top, and every time I have to scroll down to where it was before. It is highly annoying, if not worse.
Two questions: Has this been discussed before? Is there any solution for that, like an option in program settings or a hidden opion in the Windows Registry?

EDIT: sorry, me damn stupid. Locate mode was on...

    Glad we could help.

I don't know why some Photoshop users have to have so many layers. But it must be fairly common because I have gotten Photoshop PSD files that had a ton of layers.

And thanks for posting the resolution, morris. Many of us have forgotten we had Locate on at one time or another. Your post will help other Xarans.
