A little challenge for clever Xarans everywhere:

Try to draw a figure-of-eight knot (or any other knot if you prefer) in one apparently continuous brush stroke with no obvious joins!

I'm attaching my best effort so far, but it's far from perfect and it'll be interesting to see how some of you tackle the same problem...

I must admit... it's tougher than it looks...especially to a new comer to XaraX... but I'll try... nothing beats a good puzzle. I'll bet Gary can do it in no time.

Just two rules necessary, I think:

1. Any brush stroke allowed, so long as it looks vaguely rope-like.
2. It must be obvious whether the rope crosses over or under itself (multi-coloured effects not compulsory, but that's why I used them).

Like Glenn says, it's tougher than it looks!

As you say Peter it's not easy as you have to get the correct under / over sequence and this messes up the fill with the brush.
Here's my attempt

Egg... now that looks good.. I believe with the shadows at the locations where they cross, you have separate lines.. and I tried last night to come up with the correct sequence... but must have been too tired... so how about a hint.. is it just an order issue on one layer or are you using mulitple layers?

BTW... nice rope brush

OK... it can be done on one layer, and with a mug of coffee in me this morning I got it.. I didn't go into all the detail Egg did with the brush, but just went for the challenge.. hope it looks ok.

I never posted a pic before.. hope this one comes in. If it doesn't can someone tell me how?

Thanks,
Glenn

Here's my effort, although it has to be one of the easiest knots to do, as it's made of two separate pieces of rope. How about this for a challenge - a double figure of eight (as used by climbers). I looked at trying to do one, but it's just too complicated for me without resorting to bitmap copies
