Default Drop-down menus / limited choices

    Hi,

I created my latest web site in a font outside of the choices in WD9 Premium (Just purchased it today). Is there a way around the limited drop-down navigation menu choices?

    Thanks.

EZ - too many guesses to give an answer.

Do you have a website made in another (Xara) product and you are now editing with WD9?

Is the the drop down functionality that is limiting? Which part?

Is it the available templated navbars?

Can you not now use your desired font?

Can you offer a .web example of what you have managed with a mock-up of what you want?

I'm not sure if I understand your question. But, if you are using a font for your menus, it does not matter because the menus and buttons are converted to bitmap on publish.

You should be able to find a few fonts in the 600+ Google fonts that you like.

I'm an idiot. There were the choices from double-clicking on the menu and then when I realized I can go in and ungroup and change it I could choose whatever font I needed.

    Two moron follow-up questions...

    - How do you regroup after you ungroup? (Update / Solution for me, maybe not perfect but selected each component and then went in to "edit navigation..." / asked me if I wanted them the say size, etc. and viola)
    - How do you change the font for the drop-down? I've never done this, ever.

    Thanks in advance.

Fonts and colors for the drop down are in the Navigation Bar Properties > Popup Menu Style

And actually you do not need to go through the whole un-grouping thing.

Select the text for your home button with the Text Tool and change the font, style, size, color, etc. This will automatically change for the other buttons.

Same for the button color. You will have to edit the Mouse Down state separately.

With WD9 Premium you can drag and drop a color onto the navigation bar and you will get a menu that lets you change the text and button color for both button states.

    Hi,

For the popup menu style, that's where I didn't see the font of choice. For the drop-down, it looks like there are limited choices. There are 9-10 or something like that from Arial to Verdana. I am using Century Gothic for my site. Have the mouse off/mouse-over changed since I can change those from the outside the popup menu style easily (now easily to me).

Any other options to change the popup fonts?

    Thanks for the reply.

Can I change it in the CSS somewhere?

Hi, I also pulled it up in Chrome, inspected the element, changed it in the JS for see if it would render it, it did, now I'm digging around to see where I can modify that. Added a quick screen-capture of what I saw if it helps.

Yes, the drop down menu fonts are limited to the web safe fonts.

If you edit the CSS file it will be over written the next time you publish your page. Same for JS.

Sledger can tell you how to include these edits using placeholders.

Also, if you are not adverse to a little effort, you can create your own drop down menus using layers. Have a look at the attached example. These are very basic buttons but you can create any kind of button you want using this construct.
