    Default Draw half a circle

    Hey,
Perhaps this is a very easy question, but I can't find the answer. Does anyone known how to draw just half a circle in Xara Designer. The background of the design must be transparant.
    Thanks
    Frank

Can you draw a full circle then slice it in half?

The answer is no, you cannot draw a half circle. But it is easy enough to create one.

Use a straight line that is centered on the circle, select both and Arrange > Combine Shapes > Slide Shapes (what sledger just suggested).

Or convert the circle to editable shapes (Arrange menu), select the circle, switch to the Shape (Editor) Tool, select two opposing control points and click the Break at Points icon on the Infobar. Select one of the broken control points and press Enter on your keyboard. This closes one half of the circle.

    Thanks Gary, This works well.
But for my project I need an open half circle. After doing the above the half circle is closed with the straight line. Can I make this line transparant.

The second one Gary suggested is the best for you.
    Ctrl+Shift+S(Convert to Editable Shapes)
    F4 (shape editor)
Click on a Node where you want to break the circle
On the top menu bar - Click on Break on Points
Select the other Node where you want to break the circle
Click again the Break on Points.

Almost. Deselect the circle, then select one half and delete it.

This might not be apparent after you break at points.

Or create a circle, convert lines to shape, then cut it in half - that works too.
