Hi all

I'm a little confused and need your assistance please. Within our website I've an email image and I've linked that image to our email address 'info@mobileremaps.co.uk'

When you click on the image, it takes you to the following: about:blank

I set the link to our email address as follows:

Web properties > link to web or email address [entered info@ as per above]

The correct automatically box is checked within web properties
The open link in new window or tab is selected.

My question is... if what I've done above is leading to the result I'm getting. What should I be doing to get the desired result rather than a broken link?

No need to place mailto: in front of the email address, Xara Designer does this for you.

Do you then press Apply?

Yes I press apply.

And the mailto: is automatically inserted.

Have you got Javascript enabled?

There's no need to specify a window to open the link in as it launches the visitors default email program.

From the help file:

Technical note: Xara Designer Pro X encodes your email address to reduce the likelihood that SPAM robots will find your email address from the web page. This requires Javascript to be enabled in the browser (currently >95% of browsers).

Hopefully I've attached an example file correctly.

This morning I tried one other thing as well... within the link tab of the web properties box, where it says 'open link' I changed it from 'new window or tab (_blank)' which is what it'll say in the attached file to 'not specified'. Whilst this stops a new blank window from appearing.... it seems to stop anything else as well. So now when you click on our email graphic in the top right hand corner not even a blank page comes up.

So I'm confused... and any assistance would be great!

I can't help you I'm afraid because your file works perfectly fine when viewed in all browsers here. The link opens my default email client compose page with the correct address in the 'To' field.

'Open link in' is irrelevant for mailto links. No need to bother with that option.
Also no need to add mailto: in the link address, not that it matters if you do - it's just not necessary.

My guess is that there's a problem with your default mailto handler on your PC.

Working fine for me - no blank page!
