Default How to fill color in joint shapes

    Hi

I'm new to Illustrator and I'm having trouble filling color in shapes in Adobe Illustrator CS6. The shapes are made with the Line Segment Tool and as far as I know, all the lines should be connected.

    Isn't there a bucket-filling-tool?

Also, I want to use the Gradient Tool once I've filled in the colors - how can I select (if necessary) the shapes to gradient the color in every shape?

    Welcome, lindharth.

The line segment tool does not create closed paths.

Select lines which belong together you desire to make a shape from. Press CTRL + j (CMD + j for a MAC) and they should become a closed path for filling.

Next time, use the pen tool to draw with and make sure you end up back to the starting control point.

    Take care, Mike

I have to agree with Mike here, to learn AI you have to master the Pen Tool. This is the tool around all of the other tools work and they are a few tutorials that give you help to master it. Have a look here and download exercise at point 9: http://vector.tutsplus.com/tutorials...hensive-guide/
