You're adding the folder to the gallery in this action, just select it and the Xara importer will write the index file for displaying the contents in the gallery.
This is how it's been for all versions, once you understand how it functions it's straight forward.
As to naming the folder, you can do this via the registry.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\Xtreme\7.1\Gallery \ClipartGalleryDescriptions then rename your added galleries there (close DPX first)

Thanks, I've changed the names. They were under FillGalleryDescription.
You have a deeper understanding of this software than most. Are you connected with Xara?

I might add to this thread that there is a bug with Designer Pro X when updating material in a custom folder.

Xara advised (if this is a possibility), updating in Designer Pro 7, then updating in Designer Pro X.

Xara would get to a certain percent then lock up.
