Rik, for fixed height pages the method Sketch uses is also the method I've used many times in the past.
    It's pretty straight forward
In fact I created a short YouTube tutorial back when Designer Pro 6 was the current version.

I think I got it from a tutorial you might have done on this forum somewhere, but this is a great video, very easy to follow. Can we not have a section for video tutorials on the forum.

How about bringing it back, after all if a picture is worth a thousand words how many words are 5 minutes of 24fps worth (120,000) it would be a great addition as more and more people buy xara products.

You'd have to contact the current Admin of TG about resurrections

Yes it's true, the 5 minute (or so) videos are certainly the best. People can absorb and retain more information when they are kept short and to the point. They are also more likely to be viewed again.

Sketch, great to see the apostrophe has gone!

How about making the £89 (and car) a bit smaller? It's merging with the car and squashing the from.

The 'from' is not important it just needs to be there, and the text overlapping the car adds depth to the site rather than a flat image (Right Steve?)

It's not an argument, with a right or wrong, it's an opinion.

Whatever Steve thinks I'll still feel the same way.

I wasn't suggesting removing the from.

    I'll cease an desist!

eh!, why has the argument word reared it's head, I put sites on here to get the opinions of you guys because the people who have commented so far including yourself are the people whose opinions matter the most to me, don't forget that I am a relative newcomer to xara and all you guys and gals have helped in my understanding of the software. So please don't ever feel that it is an argument, if I feel that what you say needs to change I will change it, of I feel or the client feels that it needs to stay the same I will leave it the same; it does not mean that you are wrong or I refuse to make the change because I feel that I am right, also remember that all the sites I do are for clients; my opinion or your opinion are second to that of the client.

I was referring to your comment asking Steve for his judgement on whether you are "right" in positioning the text over the car.

I am no artistic guru in these matters, so it's only ever an opinion, completely ignorable.

My point is that because the text is white and the car is white, this 3D separation isn't strong enough to stop these merging together and reducing the clarity of the 9. If the car hadn't been white I may not have made that comment.

To my eyes the composition of the text and car looks a bit uncomfortable and my comment was a suggestion to try and remedy that. Others, including yourself, Steve and the customer may not feel the same way.

As for the "customer is king" approach - that's quite right, but in many ways clients are poor judges of what works, particularly if they only see one version of a layout.

It's possible my suggestion sucks, but I do think the white text overlapping a white car looks uncomfortable to my eyes. The car is certainly a prominent competitor for attention when I think the price is intended to take centre stage.

That's all (regardless of what Steve says!).

Sketch, you produce some fine layouts. In many website examples produced with Xara, I wouldn't even comment - not because they are great but because they have so far to go. You have a great eye for layout design.
