    Default File won't open

I was working on an animation and half way through saving the battery died now when I try to open the file I get this error Click image for larger version.

I tried expander.xar but got as far as Click image for larger version.

ID:	92827 the new file was created but when I open it I get a couple of errors and then it opens an empty animation.
Is there any way of repairing the file?

PS. it is not a very important file, just something I was doing as a hobby

Xpander.xar is generally the last resort. If it does not open the file then it's back to the drawing board.

James did you look in the Backups folder for an earlier version of the file? If you did not turn off the automatic backup feature there should be a few backup copies.

Your profile listed P&GD so that is the version I used for the screen grab.

As a new user, I discovered that if I do a search of disk C: for *.xar files, all my previous files come up - even the ones I discarded, and which are named "untitled" (I never saved any of them myself).

    Keep your fingers crossed

If you click on the 'File' menu
    and then
    choose 'Open recent'
you will see all the recent files you opened
    as well as
'Backups...' at the bottom of that menu.

Click on 'Backups...' and now you can find all the backups, XARA made for you, automatically.
This is where my backup folder is set: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Xara\XtremePro\8.1\Backups

So, when you did a search, the search also looked in the folder where all the backups are saved.

You have no idea how good this feature is.

Just recently, I lost the folder where I save my files.
    GONE!
But, I was able to recover 99.99% of my work from the backup files.

Here's my favorite tip for doing a search for back-up files.

If you don't save your work, you might have dozens of untitled files from a variety of dates and times.

When looking for back-ups, click the small down arrow next to Date Modified. You can use the calendar to specify a day, or a time period. Since all my files are called Untitled, this makes it easier to find a particular back-up.

Tip 2. Name your file early on, and then you can see backups for each file faster.

Thanks a million! I completely forgot about auto backups.
    Cheers
