Latest news implementation

I would like to include a "latest news" area on my opening page. I could of course create and manage this manually, but wonderd if there were any good widgets for this functionality?

You are talking about an RSS feed. See this article http://www.whatisrss.com/

I believe this can be done but not natively. Some of the members who are better with this than I can advise how to add a RSS feed to your site.

I am actually not talking about displaying fed content from others on my site. I am talking about an area on the page where I can post updates and have it "managed" so it automatically scrolls, might link to expanded content when any summary is clicked etc. Just thought there might be a widget for this, rather than trying to roll my own!
