    Default pdf online booklet

I've found a couple of threads covering this - but the "free" software isn't free for commercial use.

Im looking for software which is able to create an online brochure from a pdf file. The pdf file will be quite lengthy (approx 60 pgs) and regularly updated, so it will be too time consuming to keep converting to .jpgs. Page transition effects are not important - a simple back and forward button is fine.

Does anyone know of a workable (and free!) solution? opposed to just having the file to download Im looking to be able to read it online embedded in a web page.

    Thanks All!

    Hi Megg,

Are you meaning a flipbook type of presentation? What is the PDF being created in?

Yes a flip book I suppose - although it doesn't need to flip! I know some of them display page transitions as if reading through a brochure, but I don't need such a feature. Just a simple back and forward button to navigate between pages will be just fine.

I don't know what the pdf files will be created in, I will be receiving the files as .pdf and have to convert to something which is presentable online to read.

Hmm. Let me think about it. I believe when I was looking for my own flipbook solution I ran across this type of option by a very low cost application. The links I collected back then, if I still have them, are on a home computer.

    Hi meggs,

There is a way to do this using a php script which displays the pdf in an iframe. It does require your visitors to have a pdf reader installed or Google Chrome has a built in one, and you need a web host that supports php.

This is a script that was posted here at TG about 3 years ago by Steve Ledger http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...914#post303914

I use it to display an archive of newsletters on my site http://www.goodmorningsunshine.ca/archive.htm but you might be able to use it for your purposes. You could even break the brochure into sections by creating a pdf for each section. Once you have the script set up and installed adding pdfs or replacing updated ones can be done quickly and easily with Filezilla

Best of all this is free

Thanks Angelize. I've taken a look at what you've done with it. Looks good. Thank you for the suggestion & links.

My preference I think would be for a way to display and browse the pages using back forward buttons, opposed to scroll as what Im displaying is wider than tall and space is limited. If there's anything else out there anyone knows of I would also be happy to hear. Thanks again!

thanks i looked at this one yesterday but was put off by the list of known issues. At least they are honest! but i need something reliable. Actually a paid option may be worthwhile, but I'd look for a one off purchase for the software instead of subscription...

    Best paid one out there:
    http://flippingbook.com/

    Second best paid one:
    http://www.flipbuilder.com/

I cannot find my links. I ended up purchasing the second one above simply because I own some of their other software (from years back) and they are good people. A developer friend has the top one and it probably has a better import result.

    Take care, Mike
