Taming and Grooming problems

Attempted my first template set up using Taming and grooming Xara tutorial. Steps 1, 2, and 3 all worked perfect. The rest was lost when I saved template and reopened it. Step nine I do not even have the orange wrench. I am using Xara Designer Pro X. Thanks for any help. Richard Bell

Hi Richard.

The orange wrench is white, I'm guessing, on your computer.
That's because the tutorial has been done by using the lighter interface. And yours is likely to be set as the darker interface.
As soon as I get a chance, I'll post a dark UI pic of the buttons.

EDIT: Here's the Dark UI. And what the buttons look like.
Also, you have to press the ALT key and keep it pressed when you click and drag an icon from the button pallet to the toolbars and vice versa.

When you save a template, ensure that you have ticked the box that says 'Use as default template'.
And, as far as I am aware, saving the template does not save your buttons and toolbar set up.
All that is saved, again as far as I am aware, is how you've set up your page and page units and other items chosen in Options.
