That's the shadow I think my eye was looking for and didn't find. It wasn't a direct shadow like the box in the photo casts onto the carpet.

Today, my eye was hit by a tiny piece of stone chip (I was cutting floor tiles with an angle grinder). I am constantly dripping tears from my left eye which is, consequently, permanently blurred.

So, to get to the point of this sad and pathetic tale of woe, my eyes cannot today be trusted to do much at all!

    OK Frank.

Final box with a shadow that the books would cast.

I've been following this thread and to be honest I have even seen photograph where I've questioned the shadow fall, because as we all now there's not always one source of light falling on an particular object.
Saying that your last image Rik, just looks right with the shadow from the books even though there might not actually be one.
Anyway enough of my ranting I'd just like to say 'Superb, Brilliant and very Realistic' great work Rik.

Really like the shadows Rik, but the shadows in the first image are better in my opinion.

    Cheers.

Welcome back, Jose. Nice to see you here again.

    Thanks for your kind comments.

Yes. This one has been a strange one.
It's weird how the first one still stands up and people prefer it.

You can please some of the people some of the time, You now the rest.
Rik you are a very competent artist, designer, creator of digital imagery what ever it is your good at it, anyway for me to criticise your work weather you call it constructive criticism some times is not necessary, has you have just witnessed yourself from Jose's comments.
Rik you are competent enough to no what's good or bad and you don't need anybody else especially me telling you otherwise.
Keep up the good work because your doing something right.
