    Default Re: Color Gradient: Pantone?

    Mike -

I created a blend of two Pantone spot colors.

When I preview the output, and de-select the CMYK colors, I loose the intermediate colors.

    This was my point.

This may be different in Illustrator or other applications, but this is the way Xara handles a blend of two spot colors.

Unless I am missing something here. And it would not be the first time.

OK, Mike. A gradient fill works fine with two Pantone spot colors. A blend does not.

    Bottom line, you're correct.

Well, Gary, if it makes ya feel better, we were both correct.

What I didn't get the first time around was the conversation shifted from gradients to blends. When the word (blend) was first used I took it as "mix," versus blend as "procedure." I haven't ever tried blending (as procedure) two or more pantone colors in Illy or CD (or Xara) before. So I don't really know if they would do it or not--but I suspect not. The application would have to tween shades of p-tone colors from one to the next. Cannot see that happening.

    Take care, Mike
