Default Advice appreciated on a complementary font

Hi all, can anyone help me by suggesting a complementary sans serif font which could accompany my title font Mary Jane Antique?

    http://www.dafont.com/search.php?q=mary+jane

I'm new to typography and as much as I try and apply a) the rules and b) my own judgment, I can't seem to find one that seems to fit!

    Thanks in advance, Ed

    Ringmaster is fun http://www.dafont.com/jf-ringmaster....+Jane+Antiques
    Park Lane http://www.dafont.com/parklane.font?...+Jane+Antiques
Bittersweet http://www.dafont.com/bittersweet.fo...+Jane+Antiques (almost any of the selection from Nick's Fonts would be appropriate. Nick is a very excellent type designer with a great feel for nostalgia).

    Hello Ed--welcome to the forum.

If this is for print, I would suggest most any standard sans-serif font as a contrast to the antique nature of your title font. Avant Garde Gothic is one such sans-serif that looks nice with it:

But any other sans-serif such as Futura, Arial, etc., is a nice contrast.

Even a serif font such as Archer Semi-Bold looks well with it:

What I always do when looking for a contrasting font style is to make a few samples in XDP--which is easy by selecting the text lines, right-clicking and dragging them to make a copy. Then simply change the sans-serif font to another. Once I fill up a page--or get bored with the exercise--is to print the page and let my eye make the decision.

    Take care, Mike

Thank you both for your replies.

Mike, it's reassuring to see you recommend some very basic fonts (e.g. Arial). I will go through some of the ones you suggested and stop looking for obscure sans-serif versions instead!

    Thanks again, Ed
