    It's the same when importing.

what does it say on the status bar - if it says 300dpi, but the info bar says 3.2 inches then I can only think you have a scaling factor set

My dashed lines now come out solid for some reason. Or at least the finer ones do. However with just a few lines everything (dashes and arrows) come out OK

It says 300dpi but the "optimized" label made me think of looking in the bitmap gallery which states it's now 960x960.

    I never use scaling.

    Hi Marc

So far, the only way I've been able to get "Optimized" to show up on your png has been to click on one of the Optimize commands on the Utilities menu. Otherwise, your png consistently shows as 4in x 4in, 300dpi. If I optimize, it still shows as 4 x 4, but the resolution is now 96dpi. So far, I haven't been able to get scaling to make a difference.

Since what's happening looks like the 24bit png bug from 8.1, I wonder if the 8.1.1 update failed to apply completely on your installation.

    Hi Allison,

Thanks for trying this. I think it might be a good Idea for me to reinstall at this point.
It does sound like the update applied partially for some reason.

I've reinstalled 3 times, and it behaves the same way after updating.
Restarted and also tried default location install.

FWIW, I'm running Win 7 64bit, Xara installed in a non-default location. So, clutching at straws here.

What are your bitmap import settings on the Utilities | Options | View tab?

a scaling factor of 5:4 would produce this effect

but you shouldn't be seeing 'optimised' here if the updated had worked AFAIK, so I also think it is the installation that is awry

maybe it's time to contact xara support

Just out of curiosity how often do we get updates on new releases? I am thinking maybe this update was way too early and there may be more fixes?
