FWIW, I'm running Win 7 64bit, Xara installed in a non-default location. So, clutching at straws here.

What are your bitmap import settings on the Utilities | Options | View tab?

They're like in your screenshot, dpi specified in the image file.

I don't exactly remember from the last "minor" update, so I'm asking: Will this update overwrite my preferences / keymaps / button bar arrangement, or does this only happen for major versions?

A dialogue will ask you to choose between 'current' and 'default'.
Choose 'Current' to retain your current setup.
