Here's another tip for all you XP users.
If your system get really bulloxed up, you can repair the installation and still retain all programs and user setting.
Boot from the CD. DO NOT CHOOSE the "Repair" option. Chose "Install". The installation options then have a "Repair" selection. Choose it. What this does in reloads the generic drivers and basic setting while still maintaining all programs that you have installed. You don't lose anything. The only thing you have to do is reactivate.
I learned this when a client's motherboard died and XP did not like the new IDE controllers on the new board.
