xdp6 XD Pro 7: Error during saving:" - Bug?

    Hi all,

today I've experienced a strange behaviour of XDP 7:

created a rectangle, applied a drop shadow, duplicated it and then made a blend with these to copies.
Then converted the blend into editable shapes. Trying to save the file after that results in an error message.
The file cannot be changed. What's even worse, if the file existed before, it's being deleted from the hd.

Has anybody else had this problem?

    Regards,
    Hubert

    Hi Hubert

    I cannot duplicate the problem.

I created a rectangle, white fill black outline and a drop shadow.

Created a duplicate of the rectangle with shadow and moved it to the bottom of the drawing area.

Create a 5 step blend between the two and converted the blend to editable shapes.

The save worked without any problem.

Hubert you may want to click on the Help > Update program menu item.

The version I am using is 7.1.2.18680 which is dated Oct 7 2011.

Did you work on the file long enough to have a backup copy?

Go to File > Open Recent > Backups...

Often times when these strange errors pop up and you have to shut down, you can restore your last backup and all is not lost.

Do name and save your new file early on. This makes it easy to find the latest backup.

Thank you, Bill, updating to the latest version fixed the problem :-))

    @ Gary:
I had already thought of this option, but the bug (if it was one afterall) also affected the automatic backups. The only chance would have been if the file was old enough to have been backed up before converting the blend to editable shapes.
Or, if the file was still open, to undo the conversion of the blend. Otherwise the file was definitely lost.
    Thank you for your help.

    Regards, Hubert

I usually keep a hidden duplicate of any elements or text that I'm doing something irrevocable or destructive to. Sometimes I pull them into a separate layer or page; sometimes I just hide them in place. That way, I always have the original components if something goes wrong or I have to revise the image days later.
