index.xhl file on the server

I notice that Xara Web Designer adds a index.xhl file to the server when I publish. When I delete it off the server everything works fine anyway. What is the purpose of this file other than to confuse me?

This helps Xara know which files have changed when you republish and have selected the 'Re-publish changed files only' option
