Default Help with Painter 12, which brush should I use?

Not sure I'm posting in the right place, but here goes -- I've completed the attached drawing and now want to shadow it. You can see what I've already done, which is not very good. This is a pen drawing -- does anyone have any suggestions of what brush might create realistic shadows? IRL it's done in pencil, but I think that's what I tried here. Help for a noob would be appreciated.http://www.flickr.com/photos/mythlady/6779036887/ Thanks.

I would just copy the drawing, paste it onto a new layer and place it where the shadow would fall, choose shadow map from the layer panel composite method, adjust the transparency to set the shadow darkness. Then erase out of the shadow layer any unwanted lines.

That's an interesting idea -- I'll give it a try.
