I think it turned out well too. There is no doubt as to the center of interest. I can't help but wonder what the other shapes mean to you though. And in that regard it's perfect because it makes the viewer come up with his or her own ideas about it.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
I like it a lot. What could you not do in Xara, though? Just curious.

if using the linux xara quite a lot is missing [unfortunately]..... as for using linux itself ...

I think it is a really beautiful picture. The so called mess looks great, I think maybe you had something else in mind but this is just how it came out. I like it anyway..!
I love it. It can a bit tricky designing in shades of gray, I do it all the time for Good Morning Sunshine, you have done it very well.

the red die[dice] works well in contrast - but the red text dosn't work for me, thats the only bit I think is 'messy' - rest is done very well

Thank you all for the comments.
Maybe the bright highlight on the red text is too much... The thing that seems a little out of place and distracting to me is the small top spiral (purely aesthetic thing, design idea is not relevant here [my idea wasn't perfectly clear anyway]) and maybe the bottom one as well - it's really alone there Well... it's just details, nothing critical
I wanted to try using linux native tools to create a complete drawing, never really done that before. As Steve points out linux Xara is incomplete, also buggy and tends to crash from time to time (the latest development version at least, should have also tried older one) so it can be a little difficult to use. None of this applies to the windows version of course.
