Probably a dumb question already asked

I looked around and could not find the answer so I am asking. I apologize if it has been asked before.

I currently use WD5( yes, I am a dinosaur - I hate change ). I am about 99% ready to upgrade to WD7( probably premium ). My question is will WD7 open older WD5 files and allow you to work with them; perhaps convert them to WD7 files? I really don't want to redo everything. Hopefully WD7 is backwards compatible.
