page background layer

I have deleted the page background layer off each page on my site, me thinks I shouldn't have done this. I foolishly dont have recent back up. It was just a shadow group, can I recreate the layer? Or doesn't it matter, only asking becuase i'm having trouble with a nav bar and wondered if its related.
