Default Jeans as seen in AI tutorial

Not wanting to start a flame war or something, but I was intrigued by the image seen in this thread where some Adobe Illustrator tutorials were presented.

As Xara Designer doesn't have a roughen filter I had to come up with something different. I could've used a bitmap texture but that would've been "cheating".

Instead I used fractal fills and repeating transparencies. The threads and button could use some tweaking, but it was the denim that interested me.

That is really good work, so are you going to tell us about the fractal fills and repeating transparencies?

That is a cracker Paul! I tried in D/Pro 6 but the denim wasn't as crisp & when I compared the 2 drawings alongside I was so disappointed with my Xara effort I discarded it after over 1 hours work. Used bitmap fill (denim) and then tried to roughen the texture like you with fractal fills. The puckering did work using a brush and the stitching again was a brush. Still don't like Xara brushes compared to Illustrator's. Took your bitmap from the forum and put then together with my .png file and both looked fairly similar yours slightly lighter blue. Again well done and I don't think the thread will end up Xara v Illy as they are two different programmes which do similar things all with pluses & minuses.
    Design is thinking made visual.
