    Default Looking for the help

    Hello,

I made a header image and optimized it to the smallest size I could. It has about 50kb. Now, when I insert that PNG to WD and export it to HTML that image gets bigger for about 120kb. From 50kb to 180kb. What should I do to don't let this happen?

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to TalkGraphics

Did you create the header in WD or in another application?

In WD you can select the header and optimize it to PNG, 256 colors and it will be smaller in file size. It sounds like it is being published as a True Color (24-bit) image.

Thanks for the prompt answer. Yes, I made a header in Xara Designer, export it as PNG and then put it in the IrfanView for another compression.

If I have vector image and want to make the smallest and at the same time good quality header what's the best way to do it?

Well no, the image you 'insert' into xara isn't the image that xara exports. That's still in the bitmap gallery. What Xara creates is a rectangle with a bitmap fill then this is exported as a new (numbered) image.

Xara works in vector space. It's not a raster application.
