    Jay,
I got the same problem so...
If you have an antivirus running or some other kind of software, it might stop without completing the patch.
Avoid pressing OK button when patch stops and look in your xarax directory; you will find another directory named PATCH with xarax.exe and help files.
Paste these files in Xarax directory replacing the original ones and you will get xarax 1.0c.

    P.S.
Also PNG alpha channel transparency has improved, not only gif transparency.

Just downloaded and installed no problems. Also asked me if I wanted to retain my settings.

Do you get an error message?

Whatever the problem was, perhaps it's been fixed.

    Luciano,

Thanks for pointing out that anti-virus software may affect the patch. This is a good point as some anti-virus programs may be confused by the patch as it updates the Xara X executable.

You also indicate that it is possible to copy the files from the patch program's temporary folder before it deletes these files. Please be aware that the patch program goes to great lengths to avoid damaging your Xara X installation - copying the files from one place to another while the patch is running avoids these measures and could leave you with a broken installation of Xara X.

If you are having any problems with the patch, please contact me and I will try and resolve these problems as quickly as possible.

I had the problem with the patch stopping and failing. I turned off my antivirus and it didn't help. I did the sneaky copy thing and that worked. Nothing bad happened so far, but it's probably a good idea to wait for another one.

    Thanks jonathan,
I actually renamed the original files before pasting the new ones so I kept them safe.

I had no problem with version 1.0c and I found many improvements.

Anyway, later I stopped every program running and reinstalled the patch over the original files and then everything went fine.

    Regards
    Luciano

I downloaded the patch at 23:50 GMT March 5th.

Closed IE, closed some items from System Tray (McAfee VirusScan, Webshots Screensaver, Adaptec Create CD) then ran the patch exe file.

Worked first time, no problems - I kept my settings from 1.0b CD version. Xara X now shows version as 1.0c CD.

    Windows 98 (4.10.1998), IE 5.50.4134.0600

    Thanx Xara!
