It would be nice if this would include bitmap fills in addition to regular flat, blends and transparency fills.

Ron - Select the bitmap with the Fill Tool and set the File Filing to Repeating.
Now you can copy the fill and use paste attributes to apply the fill to another object.

Didn't we used to be able to use the fill tool and just do a copy, paste attributes for bitmap fills?

Today I realized that I often use paste attributes to transfer a bitmap shadow from one bitmap to another.
I wouldn't want my bitmap to be changed in this situation.
