    I created all these Martian lilies using splines to begin with, and then painstakingly made them bloom by node editing along the splines. I did this in E3D; the clouds are from Aurora.

    E3D although it is no longer developed, had a unique property in surface modelers and that is the ease with which you can edit nodes. It's about as good as trueSpace for freeform node editing.
