Default How to make a excel file downloadable?

I want my visitors to be able to download an Excel order file.
I did put a Excel logo om my page and when I make the link the program refuses to let me press OK and save the link.
    How should I do this?

    Thanks!

Do you think it might be helpful if you gave the URL of the page?

Might be best to ZIP the file and then link to the Zipped file.

Most browsers are reluctant to open many Microsoft files as they can contain macros which can cause many problems.

Thanks Herman. I was just interested to see what the problem was.

My client wanted that option too, but the only way was to zip it first, which is daunting for the average downloader. My answer was to use Zoho Sheets, and embed it in the webpage and allow the spreadsheet to be used online, and still have the option to allow user to download the sheet. See here: http://gpstrackusa.com/roi.htm (my client asked me to disable the download option, but it would be right next to the "click to edit" button.
