I keep confusing myself and others here.
The files I don't want are not in the templates folder. In that folder are the files I used to see. So I don't know how to remove them since I don't know where they are.

Every document I create now ends up on File>new list after I save it. I save them as .xar. Somehow I'm creating templates it looks like.
right - choose one with a fairly unique name [ie: there are not any/many similarly named files] and do a windows search for it - when you have the search results there should be an option to open the folder it is in

I find them all in the original folders I saved them in. And when I open these files they have the saved name displayed.
When I open the same file from the File>new it has "untitled" as name which tells me that this is a template. My question is where the heck are they stored? :-) They do not show up in a windows search.
There must be as setting I have triggered that creates a template file copy of everything I save.

have you gone to file menu > save template and checked where the dialog is saving to - if it has been redirected to a user folder that might help to explain it

They save to a folder I made called Brochures. I re-saved it to the templates folder and now it is all back to normal.
Thanks for hanging in there Steve!
