You might try the Expand.xar utility, which you can download from this page: http://xaraxone.com/html/shareware.html.

You'll need to scroll down a ways. Perhaps the utility will help you recover your work.

BTW, the XaraXone is an excellent resource (thanks to the inimitable Gary Priester).

Yes tried it with no success.
It's just Happend again but i've managed to copy everything to xara photo & graphic desiger 6 and saved it.
looks like i'll be using version 6 for a while moving backwards what a shame!
Auto backups just poped up again saying it can not save it, Looks like i'll have to swirch 7 off.

a thought - you may [and it is only a may] have a problem on your hard drive where ver 7 is making the backups - worth doing a disc check ...

But I've found out what was causing the problem.

ok good - is this just a version 7 problem?

EDit - re-reading your posts I think it is - so I'll move the thread to Dear Xara forum to bring it to their attention

    Could try this:-

(based on step 5 in the supplied xar)

    [1] Convert to editable shape
    [2] Ungroup and remove elipse
    [3] Re group
[4] Convert to editable shapes once again
    [5] Saves fine here...

Did you try it as it was and did you get the same error saving message?
    No works in 6 ok.
It seems to be just this Ellipse with fill and shadow, tried it with normal shapes no fill or anything and it works fine. In 7
    I'll try that "neodeist"
    Thanks

I had this problem. It pretty much cost me a client. I realized that I can inadvertently create objects that prevent it from saving and then have to go through a process of elimination to find which object it is. At times it corrupted the file as it was saving and I didn't have a backup. It's a pretty serious issue.
