Question Curve/rounded corner on inside of line?

I like to use thick lines with round join to get curved corners on lines.

Here is what it looks like:

But is there an easy way to get the following effect with rounded corners/join inside the line?

I have to fake each inner rounded corner manually at the moment, and also have to redo them when I change the line.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks,
    matt

    Hi Matt,

In the line Gallery, select "Round join".

I'm using round join, see the first image.

What I want is round join to affect the inside curve of a line join as well as the outside curve of a line join.

    Oh, sorry I misread.

I see no other way than to do this manually.

Then again you could create a rectangle, double click on it's corner to make them round, adjust the radius and trim the desired shape..

A round corner or fillet tool would be nice though.

That sounds like how I'm doing it manually right now, it's just not a good long term solution... :/

There may be a way for you to achieve what you are after but first, which version are you using? and are you using this on closed shapes or open lines?

I'm using DP7 (see my profile)

They are open lines, but I'd be interested in any solution even if it required use of closed shapes.

    Hi Matt

You could try this way. I don't know if this would be any more or less fiddly than the way you are already doing it though.

Instead of having one point handle in the corner, you could use two point handles that are equidistant from the corner. Then adjust the curve handles as required. I used guides and 'snap to' to get things lined up. I've attached a rough mock-up to show what I mean.

That's a good alternative, thanks. It will still require attention if the ends of the lines are reposition, though. for example if you changed it from a 90' bend to a 45' bend.

Ideally I'm looking for a way that requires zero changes/extra work when the line is changed. It may not exist. But i would then file a feature request
