easy way to have an out of service page appear when uploading a file.

Is there a convenient method/process to have a certain page become inactive and a not for that page indicating that files are being uploaded. I have a web site (created with xara 7 - registered) that holds quite a number of databases available for download. The issue is when I am uploading a new version I have no way of conveniently stopping someone downloading a file while I am uploading. What do other people do? Any ideas would be appreciated.

If a database is involved, then you will also most likely have a PHP scripted page. You can temporarily (manually) replace that page with a static page until your upload is complete. Then you can re-instate your original PHP page.
