Exclamation Beginner's question ... photo effect

I am a little bit embarrassed but I can't get this done with Xara!

I want to create an effect like in the attached photo ... a picture fading to a one colored background! Which effect do I have to use!

I hope the community forgives such a stupid question!

draw a quick shape rectangle over the photo - colour it yellow - use the transparency tool to give you the fade on the rectangle

you can group the two together when you are done, if you wish

There is, like most things in Xara another way, kind of backwards to Steve's suggestion this method allows easy clipping of unwanted edges of the photo.

Draw your background rectangle and place your photo over it, use the transparency tool and with the photo selected drag over the photo to give the photo a linear transparency this transparency can be easily adjusted using the transparency handle you should now see and you can double click anywhere along the handle to add extra stops to further adjust the photos transparency effect. once you have your photo's transparency set the way you like it simply select both photo and background rectangle and hit Q to clipview it.

And asking questions is how we learn, no need to be embarrassed.

Bob would probably come up with a blend tool solution too
