Default Extracting image using quick mask

    Hello All,

    First timer here!

I watched a tutorial showing how to extract an image from the background using the quick mask and at one stage it changed from the normal circle that was colouring the mask in red, to the outline then using another tool to select the pieces that were difficult to get with the original mask tool (circle). It was amazing because when you changed back to q mask the areas you selected using the other tool was part of the mask, it was great, I was wondering if anyone knew what I am talking about?

    Thank you,

    Best wishes

    Hello,

I'm not too sure, I think it was on YouTube, I can remember that when you use the mask then go out of 'q' mode and see the marching ants, you can do a selection with say the lasso tool and I'm sure there was a button named 'Add selection'

Thanks for your help with this,

    Best wishes

the selection in photoshop can have several modes - eg 'new selection' 'add to selection' subtract from selection'

the buttons to toggle the mode are on the tool info bar at the top in my version
