Display a popup layer via home page link

A link on page 1 opens page 3. Is there anyway to have this link also open a popup layer on page 3 when it opens the page?

Do you want the popup layer to open each time page 3 is loaded, even from the use of the back and/or forward buttons of the browser?

You could use a placeholder to but a small javascript within the body that uses the onload event for page 3 to open the popup.

Let's say I have 3 buttons on page 1. I want the 1st button to open page 5, layer1. The 2nd to open page 5, layer2, etc.
