Default PULLING MY HAIR OUT IN FRUSTRATION...Web Designer 7 Premium

    Hi,

I wonder if anyone here has the know how to help me. I keep getting the following:

Failed to create plugin filter object for Rich Text Format (RTF) (80040111)

I am using Windows 7.....I have...

    • Tried opening the programme as an administrator.
    • De-installed and reinstalled the program as admin etc
    • I have contacted Xara support...they got me to run a debug programme, and told me that the dll's are failing to register. CS said it could be my protection software that was preventing this.
    • I have rerun the debug programme with all non es
sential and protection software closed...I still get the above message.

The message means I cannot use a large part of the programme, specifically effects etc, but I also cannot use the pre created designs...

The support from Xara has been fragmented and I have been working on this problem with them for at least 6 weeks now. A lot of time goes by with no communication from them...all I have is the occasional initial CS.

I think this program is great, but I need to use it and I am not getting the help I need. Does anyone have any ideas or pointers for me to get this up and running again?

    Ged

    That's terrible.

I have not heard of that error myself. Check back this afternoon, about 8 hours from now, and see if Shape Shifter has any ideas. I'll send him a heads up.

Not sure I can offer anything further than Xara Support have already suggested.
It's obviously a local issue with Ged's PC which ideally would need someone there with him to sort out.
On a healthy/clean PC there should be no problems in the first place and certainly the Xara Support team know all the common problems and how to solve them.
If the PC for example, is infected with some malware, then no amount of standard support is going to help until the PC is cleaned of the malware and any OS or registry damage is repaired.
Sorry - best I can do.

Oops. That's not great is it.
I wish I could help but it's way beyond me.
There must be someone who can help you!
Hang in there, and we'll get you sorted.

Anyone out there that can lend a hand on this?

Try doing a clean boot and then installing.

Similar problem here resolved with a re-install:

I think one or more .dll files have failed to install properly.
Uninstall xara, and as christine suggested, reboot the PC before re-installing
